To join this expedition you don’t need to be Lars Monsen. This is a thrilling experience in a winter wonderland for the whole family.

We offer a complete package from Friday to Sunday. The dog sleigh tour itself takes place on Saturday. We get started at the Kennel of Beito Husky Tours, which is an attraction in itself. Most people get impressed by how friendly and good tempered the dogs are and the children just love to cuddle and play with the pups. The guide gives a thorough introduction on how to ride a dog sleigh with high focus on safety. Afterwards we choose the dogs and harnesses for our team. And when all teams are ready, we head off…
When the ride is over, we gather around the fire in the lavvo (a kind of tipi) where warm drinks and a bit to eat is serverd.
 
The duration of the trip is about three hours, depending on the snow conditions and the weather. Transport to and from the Kennel can be arranged.

Our modern apartments of ca. 48 m2 are wheel chair accessible and furnished in the same style as the pension. They have a great view from the terrace or balcony and feature two bedrooms (one with a double bed and one with bunk beds for 3 persons), a living area with open fireplace and TV, a kitchenette with fridge, stove and dishwasher and a spacious bathroom with shower/WC.

For the winter holidays we can offer a fantastic net of ski tracks for back country and cross country skiing as well as downhill slopes for all ages and skills. The Beitostølen area is the perfect destination for a family holiday. There are all sorts of winter activities, we arrange guided mountain ski tours (if the weather permits it) and the activity hosts engage the children in the afternoons and evenings. There’s always a fire burning in the fireplace and tasty homemade food on the table. In other words: A winter holiday just as it should be.

The package includes accommodation in a family room for two adults and one child (7-15 years), half board and ski pass for two days.

There’s a special silence over the winter mountains – just the sound of your skis can be heard. Here you are far away from haste and stress. Let your thoughts wander, feel the wind in your face and be aware that you’re living.

We glide over high plateaus and hilly forest terrain. We might see a ptarmigan and tracks after hare and fox. The winter mountains hold many a secret which they might share with the observing visitor. And we make sure that you get to see the very best of what they can offer. Back again you go straight to a laid table with fine traditional food waiting.

From the breakfast buffet you make your own lunch package and get your thermos bottle filled with warm tee or coffee. The ski trips require that you have good skis.

Back country skis can be rented at Beitostølen (please notify us when booking).  All participants must have a windproof jacket with hood (hardshell), windproof trousers (hardshell), a good and warm hat and mittens with windproof outer layer, sun glasses and a daypack for your lunch package, thermos and an extra set of clothes. Gaiters are recommended.

The following program shows a typical itinerary, given sufficient weather conditions. Sometimes the suggested tours will be swapped with other routes of comparable length and difficulty.

Sunday:  Arrival and dinner
Monday:  Slettefjell, approx. 4 hours
Tuesday:  Smørkoll-Beitostølen-Beito, approx. 4 hours
Wednesday: Oleskar-Vinstervatn, approx. 5 hours
Thursday:  Thank you for your stay. Departure after breakfast

Beitostølen is the ultimate destination to experience the real norwegian way of an Easter holiday: White plateaus with a fantastic, wide spread net of cross country ski tracks for cross country and back country skiing. Downhill slopes for all ages and skills. Blue skies (at least we hope so) and tanning sun as well as oranges and chocolate in your daypack…

At Grønolen we make sure you and your family experience the perfect Easter holiday. We have lots of snow activities for both adults and children. With the small children we grill bread and sausages on the fire, go sled sliding and do other fun activities. And for the fittest we arrange guided mountain ski trips off the beaten track (if the weather permits it).

Indoors, there’s always a fire burning in the fireplace and fine homemade food on the table.
