Beito and Beitostølen are nicely situated at the gate of Jotunheimen, and that makes the area particularly suitable for hiking and more challenging excursions. In and around Beitostølen you can choose different well marked paths. There are different walks suitable for 1-2 hour walks, and from Beito/Beitostølen you can choose different day or half day trips on well marked paths.

At Beito/Beitostølen, you are only a half an hour drive from the nearest startout point for excursions by car or bus to the most spectacular and popular mountain tours.

Nature walks

Behind the houses in the Beitostølen centre, you can follow nice nature walks between old mountain lodges, old animal cemetaries and ruins from the Iron Age. Start at Beitostølen Apartment Hotel or behind the Bitihorn Appartment Hotel.

Walk the Poetry hike that starts by the Bergo Hytter behind Peppes Pizza. One hour hike with soul food. Through poetry about mountains and farms that promotes the cultural and recreational values attached to the mountains and life in the mountain pastures.
