July 1 Opening of the bobrink

In July, our popular summer slegde installation – Beitostølen bobrink – the first summer bob in a downhill course – opens! Everyone can compete in the double track in bobsleighs on wheels. At the same time, the Summer Park opens with all its different activities.
Children under the age of 10 need to be accompanied by an adult in the lift.
Children from the age of 10 can ride their own bobsleigh. Children aged 3-7 have to sit on the lap of an adult.
The car racing track opens in May, and is open every Saturday in June.

July 3–5 Climbing Weekend by the Beito Aktive

A weekend of climbing and fun for the whole family this first weekend in July. We have an area prepared for climbing at the foot of Bitihorn. Get instructions and get to know climbing in a safe manner. The mountain is cracked with several routes of various difficulty. Equipment can be rented. In the beautiful scenery by Lake Øyangen, the new “height apparatus” is situated. This is an activity for the whole family, where you can put you physical and mental boundaries to the test whilst climbing from platform to platform over aerial cableway, bridges and swings. July 10–11 Tour de Beitostølen MTB Challenge

July 10–11 2009, the cycling race Tour de Beitostølen is arranged for the fifth time. The most beautiful adventure of the summer. A two day mountain bike race by the foot of Jotunheimen. Saturday with the legendary round of 70 kilometres (44 miles), where you can experience col de Slettefjell, Croix SølvsmieVal de Rosso and other challenges. Another stage race takes place July 18–24 2009. The start and finish line is at Beitostølen.

July 24 Christmas at Beitostølen

Prepare for at different type of Christimas celebration (!) at Beitostølen this summer! The 24th of July, there will be Santas, sleighing and even more at the centre of the mountain village. August 1–10 ”Sol of the Ice People”

The major show at Valdres Folk Museum this summer. Starring Paul Ottar Haga and Heidi Ruud Ellingsen, among others. “Sol of the Ice People” is the story about the young girl Sol and her dramatic life. She is decendant of the evil Tengel who once sold his soul to Satan. He was promised wealth if at least one in every generation would gain magical powers and serve Satan. Since then, the Ice People have lived a lonely life, hated and feared by the outside world. Until the inquisition sets the country on fire by burning witches. Margit Sandemo, who has written the books about the Ice People, is partly from Valdres, and even though she lives in Sweden at the moment, she will always be the daughter of the valley. Aged 83, Margit is still a productiv writer, and the queen of entartainment literatur in the Nordic countries. See www.isfolket.no for dates and more information.

August 13–16 The Troubadour Festival 2009

A festival with a 20 year long tradition at Beitostølen. This year, the Troubadour Festival is arranged 13–16 August. For more than two decades, Beitostølen has been the scheen of a unique event. The gathering of more than twenty artists who normally travel around the world and perform for people on the street has become a tradition that attracts both locals and visiting people to Beitostølen. The sandwich buffet is the largest and most varied in the area and the entertainment is original and placed in the most beautiful landskape. Come and experience the ”streets” in the mountains. This is unique! Here, the street-singers gather from all over the world for some unforgettable days at Beitostølen.

August 21–23 Fishing Weekend with haul

August 28–30 Beitostølen Mountain Jazz 2009

Beitostølen Mountain Jazz 28–30 August 2009 – Gladjazz weekend (New Orleans inspired jazz). Traditional jazz / gladjazz will always be the basis of the program, but other forms will also be part of the Beitostølen Mountain Jazz. Read more: www.fjelljazz.no

September 04–06 The Bob Dylan Festival

September 11.-13. Fishing Weekend

Manufacturing of fish, fermenting, curing and smoking. This is the second of three fishing weekends, and suits those who participated at the first weekend in July, and every one else who wants to learn how to manufacture their owh haul. September 26–4.10 Autumn Exhibition

We continue with previous years’ successes and arrange the Autumn Exhibition 900 metres above sea level at Radisson SAS Resort the 26 September – 4 Oktober 2009. More information www.900moh.no

September 28–4.10 The Children’s Autumn vacation

During the autumn vacation, there are extra many activities for the little ones. There is, among other things, a five day program for those between the ages of 6 till 12. You can participate one or more days.

Monday:

Horse Day – On the day of the horse, children can try horse back riding. The day ends with barbequing and a nice bon fire.

Tuesday:

Activity Day – Activity course, bathing, barbequing, drawing contest, treasure hunt and cartoons. Tuesday ends with magic. Remember to bring swim wear.

Wednesday:

Chef Day – The day starts with healthy meals, baking cakes and making caramels.

Thursday:

Mountain Day – We go hiking with maps, compasses, story telling and a fishing competition. At night there is a carnival.

Friday:

Horse Day (see Monday)
Chef Day (see Wednesday) Suitable for children between the ages of 6 till 12.

Saturday:

Chef Day (see Wednesday) Suitable for children between the ages of 6 till 12.

October 1–3 The Black Mountain Blues Festival

The Black Mountain Blues Festival is arranged at restaurant Vilt og Vakkert 1–3 Oktober 2009. Known and unknown underground artists will give you a spectacular experience in the landskape of the blues. An enjoyment for those who know the genre – and an adventure for the uninitiated! November 6–8 The Rakfisk Festival 2009

The popular Rakfisk Festival 6–8 November 2009. In 1990, Reidar Diserud arranged, together with Fagernes Hotel, a small party for 30 people with rakfisk – half-fermented trout. November 6–8 Fishing Weekend with tasting samples

Taste the fish you have caught. This is the third of three fishing weekends and it suits those of you who have been to one or both of the previous fishing weekends in July and September, and for those of you who would like to get aquinted with home manufactured, smoked, cured and half-fermented fish. November 13–15 The Beito Sprint – Ski Opening 2009/10
